Next Saturday 4 / 24 th is the LUCG 10th Aniversary!
Actually the 10th aniversary of the creation of the LUCG (LU Contest Group) was on April 15 th. But we will celebrate next Saturday at LT1F. LT1F is one of the emblematic and most active ham radio stations in international contests in LU. It was founded back in 1995 by Karl LU1FKR, Jose LU1FJ and Juan LU3FZW (SK).
Today the LUCG has over 240 members out of which the vast majority is active in ham radio contest be it CW, SSB, RTTY and even EME.
The number of active contest stations in Argentina has exploded during the past ten years from a handfull to several tens of stations getting on the air and participating regularly in many contest every year.
Many new young contesters have rerpresented LU in major contests including LU1FAM (2 time WRTCer) and LU9ESD op at 6Y1V. Not only that, LW9EOC a young contester from Buenos Aires started to build his own station in a farm location. Mariano LU8EOT is regularly joining the MS team at LS1D. Victor LU3JVO is always squeezing his agenda at the University to get on the aire and at least make some Qs. Marco LU7ACW (LU1AEE’s son) is very enthusiastic at CW contesting.
Lately LU1FAM has allowed newcomers to join Multi op operations at LT1F. To me, the fact that we see a solid generation renewal is the most rewarding experience.
Also these past ten years have shown an increase in stations entering in Multi Op Categories: LT1F consistently entering either SOAB by LU1FAM or MS, M2 and MM. LR2F making a good campaing in MS and lately LP1H doing the same and now in M2.
There are many other achievement that our group is proud of. Not because the group feels responsible for them, but because its members have made big efforts with lots of enthusiasm to improve their stations, to put together great crews and most important to get on the air and enjoy our beautifyl hobby.
I’d like to say thanks to all the group members for their efforts and I just dream of another even more productive years ahead.
Vy 73,
Martin LU5DX
